Organic Cotton
One of the founding principles of Vince's Beach was that we should show
respect for our environment in every possible way, including the
products that we make.
All of our clothing is made from 100% certified organic cotton, as we believe that this is the most environmentally friendly and best quality material for producing t-shirts.
T-shirts are usually made from non-organic cotton, which is of course a natural fibre, but its production methods are extremely harmful to both people and the environment. Cotton accounts for only 3% of the world's crops, yet it uses 25% of the world's insecticides and over 10% of the world pesticides. A typical cotton T-shirt uses around 250g of toxic chemicals in its production, more than the weight of the t-shirt itself.
These chemicals are not only damaging to the environment but also to human health. Every year, it is estimated that around 5million farm workers in developing countries suffer from pesticide poisoning, many of them from working with cotton. Pesticide poisoning can cause vomiting, memory loss, tremors, seizures, severe depression and even death.
